19 Twink Gear
From GnomiesWiki
The purpose of this guide is to provide the Level 19 Twink with a one-stop shop on gearing up their twinks, regardless of what class you choose to play. Simply browse to your armor and/or weapon proficiencies to decide on what to go after. A variety of factor depends on how you choose to equip your twink. This includes how much time you're willing to invest to farm a particular item and your style of play. If you have enough time to farm the Bind On Pickup (BOP's) items or enough money to simply buy the Bind On Equip (BOE's) items, you may very well choose to create several gear sets to be able to respond to all situations. The choice is really up to you.
Please note that mail wearers can automatically equip leather or cloth and leather wearers can equip cloth armor. Just because it's not mail or leather should not prevent you from wearing it. Sometimes a cloth item has way better stats than a mail item. Just select what's best for you. Unless specifically for leather wearers, I've put back pieces in the All Armor Proficiencies section since everyone can wear them. Other armor pieces will go in their respective category (so check the Cloth section for the engineering goggles). Thanks to Kielbasa who've helped me update this page. Hopefully you'll find this guide useful. Please keep in mind that this guide is written from an Alliance point of view in terms of quest rewards, etc. Comparable quest rewards are available on the Horde side as well, but is beyond the scope of this guide. If you have any feedback, I'd love to hear about it.

[edit] All Armor Proficiencies:
Rings:
Rings can be worn by all classes. Just select the rings with the stats you want. Most classes are able to utilize a variety of stats and some are more important to you than others. Choose your rings based on that. If you have extra money or time to farm on your main, you may want a variety of rings and use Outfitter to manage them for situational battles.
Meadow Ring of Eluding (+12 Dodge Rating/+1 AGI) - Meadow Rings have random enchantments but the Meadow Ring of Eludind is the kick-ass ring for rogues, warriors and other melee classes that wants to maximize his/her dodge. After all, it doesn't matter how much damage someone can do if they can't hit you. Certain rogues (who shall remain nameless) can get upwards of 78% dodge chance WITHOUT Evasion based on gear and the right enchants. Other Meadow Rings include of the Monkey (STA/AGI), of the Eagle (STA/INT), etc.
Seal of Wrynn (+3 STR/+3 AGI/+4 STA/+4 INT/+3 SPI) - The reward of a long quest chain from Stormwind Keep. It's actually a very nice ring for a level 19 twink and has the stats to satisfy both casters and melee. The only caution is that you'll get quite a bit of XP completing the entire quest chain so make sure you start it as soon as you're eligible.
Protector's Band (+4 STR/+4 AGI/+3 STA) - A WSG reward that you buy when you have enough honor points and WSG Marks. By the time you have enough honor to buy it, you should have plenty of marks. This is a very good ring and quite easy to get with the new honor system as long as you play on winning teams. Not that hard when you're rolling with the gnomies.
Lorekeeper's Ring (+2 STA/+5 Spell Damage & Healing/+2 mana every 5 sec) - A solid choice for casters.
Bronze Band of Force (+1 weapon damage/Increase Spell Damage & Healing slightly) - Another caster option.
Blood Ring (+5 STA) - Two of these will net you an extra 100 health. Not bad for those interested in an all stamina build like warlocks or some of the melee classes.
Lavishly Jeweled Ring (+2 AGI/+6 INT) - A nice hunter ring since they can put the extra agility to good use or any caster class. Drops off of Gilnid in the Dead Mines about 33% of the time.
Black Pearl Ring (+1 STA/+1 INT/+6 SPI) - An OK ring for casters due to its high spirit but there are better out there. Drops off Lady Vespira (rare spawn) in Darkshore.
Demon Band (+4 STR/+4 STA/+2 SPI) - Easy to get since it drops in Stockades and BFD. It has 2 stamina and 4 strength so it may be a good choice for a warrior, but not as much stamina as the Blood Ring.
Back Pieces:
Most back pieces have a cloth armor proficiency requirement which means that they can be used by all classes.
Caretaker's Cape (+4 STA/+2 SPI/+9 Healing) - A PVP reward from the WSG Quartermaster located at the WSG instance in Ashenvale. It requires 95 honor and 10 WSG Marks. Great for casters, especially healers. You lucky dog because it the past you needed to be Honored with WSG before even getting it.
Sentry Cloak (+4 AGI/+5 STA) - (A rare world drop (less than .1% from mobs level 24 or so), you'll either be farming the skeletal horrors & fiends in Duskwood endlessly on your main or bite the bullet and buy one from the auction house. But it's a kick-ass cloak for melee classes that's BOE.
Glowing Lizardscale Cloak (+6 AGI/+2 SPI) - Drops off of Skum in Wailing Caverns about 39% of the time so you'll have a decent chance of it dropping. Not farmable since it's BOP, so you'll have to get a main or 2 to help you get it.
Firebane Cloak (+5 STA/+5 FR) - Random world drop off level 21-24 mobs. The +5 STA makes it blue for this level. Not a bad cloak and the +5 FR does make a big difference at level 19. It's just that there aren't too many mages at this level to worry about -- it's the rogues & hunters you have to watch out for at level 19.
Bristlebark Cape (+4 AGI) - Not bad if agility is what you're mainly after.
Engineer's Cloak (+5 STA/+2 INT) - It doesn't have the +9 healing of the Caretaker's Cape, but the stats are very good for a caster. Even the +5 Stamina on it may be attractive enough for some melee classes. This cloak is a reward from a quest in Stonetalon Mountains.
Scouting Cloak of the Monkey (+2 AGI/+2 STA) - A world drop. Relatively cheap at the AH if you can find it, but it's really just to hold you over until you can get something with better stats.
[edit] Cloth Proficiency:
Head Pieces:
Lucky Fishing Hat (+15 STA/+5 Fishing) - The ultimate twink hat. 150 hit points on 1 piece of armor before enchants. Very rare and can only be obtained via the fishing tournament. Please see [07-agm.php">page] for more information.
Green Tinted Goggles (+8 STA/+7 SPI) - A great twink head piece (until you get the Lucky Fishing Hat that is). Made with engineering, it requires 150 engineering to equip. So get moving!
Shoulder Pieces:
Talbar Mantle (+3 STA/+6 INT) - This shoulder piece is a quest reward from WC. After killing the final boss in WC, you'll get the The Glowing Shard. This shard starts the chain sending you to Ratchet, WC, and Darnassus. It's worth about 6000 XP so plan accordingly.
Chest Pieces:
Tree Bark Jacket (+6 STA/+10 INT) - This is a rare BOE drop in Blackfathom Deep (BFD). Your best chance of getting it is to pay the price and pick it up in the AH. If you're into pain, farm it for yourself on your main.
Bloody Apron (+12 STA) - Dropping in SFK makes it more difficult to get but worth it if you're going to last through healing the FC or chain fearing Rogues. Drops from the Butcher.
Gray Woolen Robe (+4 STA/+5 INT) - Made from Tailoring (Skill 105), it's a viable alternative until you can get something better. Requires 4x Bolts of Wool, 3x Fine Thread, and 1x Gray Dye. The pattern is relatively rare and drops off low level 20-21 mobs.
Ritual Tunic of the Eagle (+4-5 INT/ +4-5 STA) - Drops off random mobs in Blackfathom Deep (BFD). It's BOE so you may be able to find it in the AH as well.
Corsair's Overshirt (+5 STA/+11 SPI) - Drops off Edwin Van Cleef in Deadmines roughly 38% of the time.
Feet:
Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots (+12 STA/+5 Fishing) - A nice pair of twink boots. Very rare and can only be obtained via the fishing tournament. Please see this Arena Trinket & Fishing Gear for more information.
[edit] Leather Proficiency:
Chest Pieces: As an Alliance player, you only have two choices and shouldn't have to use anything else since one at the very least is available to all players via a quest reward and the other is easily farmed off of Edwin Van Cleef, the final boss in Deadmines:
Tunic of Westfall (+11 AGI/+5 STA) - No strength bonus on this like on the Blackened Defias Armor, but the whopping +11 agility can't be found any other chest piece at this level. The +5 stamina does make up for that difference somewhat. This is especially nice for rogues building a dodge and/or crit build.
Blackened Defias Armor (+4 STR/+3 AGI/+11 STA) - This drops roughly 8% of the time off of Van Cleef to prepare to run it often unless you get really lucky. It's good for hunters or rogues that prefer stamina over agility. Or you could just go with both of them depending on the situation: :-D
Shoulder:
Serpent's Shoulders (+9 AGI) - A drop from Lady Anaconda in WC these are the best in armor and in AGI for Rogues and Hunters. Super high drop rate too.
Rugged Spaulders (+8 AGI) - Come on it's only 1 AGI but it's all the way to SFK to get them. Just get the Serpent's instead.
Wrist:
Wrangler's Wristband of the Monkey (+2-3 AGI/+2-3 STA) - Drops randomly from the elite mobs in WC and BFD. Either try to farm it yourself or look in the AH.
Forest Leather Bracers (+5 AGI) - I'm an agility nut on my rogue so this is the bracer for me. Drops from the elite mobs in Stockades and Gnomeregan. Again, farm it or look in the AH.
Gloves:
Gloves of the Fang (+6 AGI/+5 STR) - Since patch 2.3 the best glove for combat specced Rogues and in BG's and in the 10-19 Braket who isn't looking for more DPS? +15 AGI Enchant on these is what I run with on Hailsee. :-) Even if they are only level 14 gloves. They are a low random drop rate from WC, but are BOE so you can buy them in the AH I suggest the neutral AH Horde seem to think they're second rate since they can all get them.
Scouting Gloves of the Monkey (+3-4 AGI/+3-4 STA) - A nice glove for rogues, druids, and hunters. It's hell to try and find a +4/+4 glove though, but don't let that stop you from looking! These gloves also come as Scouting Gloves of Stamina or Scouting Gloves of Agility which will give +6 STA or +6 AGI respectively.
Red Whelp Gloves (5% chance on hit to deal 15-25 fire damage) - I use this pair of gloves on Istabudie and a +15 agility enchant. It does add to your DPS. Your friendly neighborhood leatherworker can make one for you. In fact, I think my LW can make it. :-)
Bristlebark Gloves (+4 STR/+4 AGI) - Another good alternative for leather wearers if you'd rather have the strength for DPS. They drop in BFD randomly.
Waist:
Deviate Scale Belt (+5 AGI/+6 STA/+3 SPI) - The best twink belt available for leather wearers. Plenty of stamina and agility. It's made with leatherworking and requires 6x Perfect Deviate Scales, 4x Deviate Scales, and 2x Fine Thread. Perfect Deviate Scales and Deviate Scales are found from skinning the mobs in WC. If you're not a skinner, buy them from the AH. Once you have the mats, PST Istabudie or Corina. My alt can craft this for you and she's parked at Stormwind.
Blackened Defias Belt(+18 Attack Power) - A Hunter and Rogue dream come true. Drops from Captain Greenskin in the Deadmines on the top deck of the ship. Is also a BOE so you could find it in the AH.
Belt of the Fang (+5 AGI/+6 STA) - Minus three spirit isn't bad if these drop for you off the first boss in WC when you're after your shoulders.
Legs:
Leggins of the Fang (+5 STR/+4 STA/+9 AGI) - Drops off Lord Cobrahn in WC, it's the best twink leather leggings unless you're putting a Burning Crusade leg enchant on another pair of pants. Still, this is relatively easy to farm and with the normal enchants it's still a very good pair of pants.
Dark Leather Pants (+8 Agility) - Made with leatherworking. Requires 12x Medium Leathers, 1x Gray Dye, and 1x Fine Thread. My alt can make this so PST Corina/Istabudie. A good pair of pants to put the new Burning Crusade enchants on.
Scouting Trousers (Random Enchants) - Get either of the Monkey or of Agility depending on your preference. A good pair of pants to put the new Burning Crusade enchants on.
Rigid Leggings (Random Enchants) - Same as above.
Feet:
Feet of the Lynx (+8 AGI/+3 STR) - For those favoring agility over stamina, these boots are the best you'll find. Drops in Stockades or Duskwood off the skeletons. Or just look in the AH; they're on there often enough.
Footpads of the Fang (+6 AGI/+6 STA) - A good substitute to the Feet of the Lynx offering good stamina and agility. Put on a minor speed enchant and you're good to go!
[edit] Mail Proficiency:
Chest Pieces:
Outrunner's Chestguard of the Bear (+5 STA/+5 STR) - The best 19 mail chest piece you can get. Drops off level 24 elites in Blackfathom Deep. It's pretty rare though.
Defender Tunic of the Bear (+4-5 STA/+4-5 STR) - This is a solid second choice.
Ironforge Breastplate (+3 STA/+3 STR) - Crafted with Blacksmithing. Requires 15x Copper Bars, 2x Tigerseye, and 3x Rough Grinding Stone. Most Blacksmiths can make this and it's a good substitute if you can't get anything else decent.
