So what is this place? Simply put, it's an online repository of free software for computers running Windows. Usually it's up to the software itself as to which version of Windows is supported, but in my experience, you should not have any problems running these applications under Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Windows Vista compatibility may be good or non-existent; I've simply never try it before. What makes this place different from other "free software" download sites are a few things.
Firstly, all of these are software that I'm currently using myself or have used in the recent past. Second, I host all of the latest versions that I can find myself, with links back to the original source if still available. This is for your convenience and will not change unless the software owners ask me to stop. Currently all of the software I use can be freely re-distributed so it shouldn't be a problem. Third, I do not discriminate between free proprietary software vs. open source, although I will have both types. My definition of free is "no costs." Lastly, unlike other download sites, you won't ever have to register or do anything special to download from here.
With that said, I do have a few disclaimers. Although these are software I've downloaded and used myself without any problems, I can't guarantee that they'll work for you. That means a variety of things. The software may not work on your system. It may cause your system to malfunction or even break due to bad code, viruses, etc. You should always check any software you download from the Internet anyways to make sure it's clean. I also do not provide any support for the software you download here. This is just something I'm doing as a service to other users so they'll have a one-stop shop for good, quality software. If you need help with a particular piece of software, please contact the author(s) or visit the links on this site for that software for support. Please do not email me with support questions! If by any chance you do need to contact me, please follow the link in the copyright notice below and send me an email from my personal home page.
Last note: Right now it's relatively inexpensive for me to host all of this stuff. I'm keeping the site simple and clean so that it's easy to use. At some point in the future, I may add some Google ads to help offset the hosting/bandwidth cost, but aside from that, I don't have any intentions of making money off this thing. That's about it... I hope you find this site useful!
